The Problem

Sounds from the Other City festival came to us looking to be able to update their site year-on-year and showcase not only the performers, but also the promoters and venues.

SFTOC required a website that worked with their yearly illustration updates, but without having to rebuild the site year on year. We created a bespoke and super customisable CMS that allows the to change the theme of the website every years with new fonts and colour themes. Additionally,, when there’s a period of downtime between festivals we built in a system that takes out the brands and makes the site white label and unbranded.

An intuitive filtering system was created to allow users to easily find the type of performances that happen like art and music, as well as finding out who’s playing the famous after parties.

The site was created with a flat hierarchy that no artist or performer should be classed as a ‘headliner’. We built a system that allowed easy cross linking between performers, promoters and venues.

Sounds is 20 years old now and has a massive archive or material to present which was missing from the site. We built an archival system into the site. Allowing them to add poster artwork, gallery image and an archive of who was involved in that years festival.
