Who we are
For the past 10 years Project Simply (https://projectsimply.com) has worked alongside some of the leading cultural venues and events, creating amazing brands and digital experiences. We are a leader in our field and work with brands such as Parklife and Second Home. We’re a small agency on a growth drive looking to help support the industries we love and take on projects we can be really proud of.
We also have our own festival and event web product, called Plot. It’s a web system that allows for the swift production of gorgeous branded festival and event websites. It provides tools for our design team to create fully branded sites quickly and efficiently. It also provides a modern, progressive user interface for customers to manage their event website and ticketing.

The opportunity
This role is a dream role for a Lead front-end developer looking for an exciting opportunity to work in the sector they love. We’re a small, enthusiastic team, growing an agency and product that we adore, for clients we love. The work we do is exciting and very creative, so you’ll get the opportunity to work alongside some of the most innovative and creatively minded businesses on the planet.
Initial Goals
You will be tasked with helping shape the development landscape for our agency and all client work. We sit in the cultural space and event niche, so we expect dedication and love for the sector, and a creative mind to come up with new ideas, amazing development and an ability to communicate and present these to clients and internal team members. You’ll be nurtured in a small but highly skilled development team (consisting of three currently).
What you’ll be doing
In a very varied and exciting role, you’ll be tasked with using your development skills to work alongside the dev team to conceive, produce and deliver well-thought-through development planning as well as fantastic bleeding edge development. You’ll work closely with the creative teams and the head of design, helping them to bring their ideas to life with beautiful code, animations and movement. You’ll also be:
- Creating scalable, progressive, modern websites / web apps and coming up with new and exciting ideas to solve problems
- Working closely with the Creative Director and Head of design to create effective processes and planning strategies
- Leading Implementation of a test-driven development ideology
- Suggesting new features and ideas for continuous improvement
- Act as communications lead on digital projects, overseeing the development and
- Hands on delivery of all projects
- Effectively manage project/business performance by planning, co-ordinating, delivering, evaluating and communicating as appropriate.
- Identify and manage project risk
- Maintain clear project plans to deliver work within budget
- Delivery of reporting and forecasting to senior team members
- Develop standards and processes to ensure quality, efficiency, usability and consistency
- Ensure relationships with external stakeholders and engagement with colleagues are all managed effectively
- Manage external development contractors and in-house development staff to ensure they produce on deadline
- Seek out new relationships and opportunities with current clients and external contractors
- Play a central role in the recruitment of a digital team
- Build a high-quality working relationship with team members and provide a blend of support, development and performance management
- Consider, plan and strategically implement improvements to digital systems
- Analyse feedback from the client, senior team members, contractors and other key stakeholders
- Testing and quality management
We’d like you to have
- 6 years minimum Front end development experience at a high level
- 3 years experience in runnning a development team
- Strong commercial experience
- Strong Javascript, PHP, WordPress, NPM, Webpack
- Ability to think of great ideas and get buy-in from clients and team
- Strong HTML5, SASS and CSS
- A love of design and creativity
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Very good knowledge of Web standards, accessibility, and best practices
- A good understanding of AWS or similar + DevOps
- React experience
- Figma experience
- Strong Git knowledge
- Experience in Agile methodologies
- A love of bleeding edge early adoption
- A desire to create and experiment
